U&C: Jamie Isaac

Signed to Marathon Artists, this singer and producer is one to watch this summer.

Hailing from Croydon, London, Jamie Isaac likes to dip into numerous genres such as electronica and jazz, supplying a unique collection of styles. The listening experience involves entwining layers of sound, a technique picked up from one of his favourite musicians, Brian Wilson. He has also claimed to have been profoundly influenced by jazz music; for example, the pianist Teddy Wilson and on the more classical side of influences, Frederic Chopin. These are all artists of astounding acclaim who inspire great platforms of elegance within Isaac’s music, which are blissfully topped off by his soulful voice.

Isaac is also part of a very prominent South London music scene. He attended Brit school with fellow songwriter and producer Archy Marshall (King Krule), and since then the two have established a solid reputation for themselves. They even collaborated on Archy’s artistic project ‘A New Place 2 Drown’ on Ammi Ammi. Recently, they did a Boiler Room takeover alongside pals; Rejjie Snow, Jesse James, Black Mack and Jadasea. This was to launch his impressive mixtape, ‘Loose Grip’, which involves a number of striking remixes from his forthcoming album. A standout on this third studio release has to be the ‘Last Drip – Remix’, featuring Rejjie Snow. The two pair up to supply a soft and promising track which magnifies the pair’s capabilities.

His new album is to be called ‘Couch Baby’ which drops on July 8th. The song ‘Know U Like Me’, originally remixed by ‘Edgar The Beatmaker’, has been released in its serene studio form. You can take a listen below on the link, the track foreshadows a graceful album to come. It’s an interesting way to do things, releasing a remix prior to the actual song; the experience in this case goes from intense electronica to a mellow, sunlit spectacle.

The summer of 2016 is sure to be an exciting one for him, with an album drop and a few shows lined up. You can catch him at this years Field Day Festival, taking place in London’s Victoria Park from June 11th – 12th. He’s also doing a free warm up show for this on June 8th at Miranda in Shoreditch. His biggest show will be his sold out event at the Bermondsey Social Club on July 12th.

Keep an eye out for this man.
